Contractor scientist or postdoctoral fellow position in Cancer Bioscience at AstraZeneca in Waltham for the discovery of novel therapeutic targets

The postdoctoral fellow or scientist will work for two years with the target selection group to identify potential drug discovery targets among hits obtained from siRNA screens for cancer phenotype. Knowledge of genomic alterations, expression in tumors and association with relevant molecular pathway will be integrated to generate testable clinical hypothesis. The candidate will conduct experiments to evaluate the function specific proteins in tumorigenesis and generate data to strengthen disease linkage. The work will be performed in collaboration with academic investigators and AstraZeneca biology teams. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to define critical biology questions, establish experimental models and learn unfamiliar technology. Excellent communication skills will help the scientist in this position to utilize available resource across the company in order to progress projects efficiently. Expertise in the fields of signal transduction, cell differentiation, cell death, cell cycle and cancer biology are welcome. Technological skills in cell biology such as RNA interference, protein expression, genomic data analysis, tissue culture, immunofluorescence, microscopy, and image analysis will be utilized.
